Gentile da Fabriano

The Exhibition entitled "Gentile da Fabriano and the other Renaissance" is an absolute premiere in the sense that no other exhibition of work by the great Maestro has ever been organised.
A considerable number of his works of art, in addition to some by his contemporaries and his followers, will be shown in the 15th Century Spedale di Santa Maria del Buon Gesù documenting the activity of this artist, who in many senses anticipated with his originality the advent of the Renaissance. Preparatory work by a Scientific Committee, including experts of world renown, have led to new developments in studies on this Artist and on the artistic season in which he played an undisputed leading role.

the Paper and Watermark Museum

A fully functional Fabrianese “gualchiera” fulling-mill has been reconstructed inside the Paper & Watermark Museum. Reinstating the same techniques used by the famous “Master Paper-makers” that deeply influenced the perfectioning and distribution of paper in the western world. It is possible to follow the entire work cycle within the museum’s walls : from the arrival of and stockpiling of cloths “at the beginning of the cycle” to the shipment of finished paper bales for Italian and European consumers, via the Fano and Talamone shipping ports.

RECANATI
Recanati immediately recalls the great romantic poet Giacomo Leopardi. Recanati was a very important town in the early Middle Ages and during the following years. It was founded in the 12th century in order to withstand the sieges of the inhabitants of Osimo. Federico II allowed the town to build a port (Porto Recanati). Later on Recanati became the site of battles between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. Having joined the Bishop's throne of this town to that of Loreto in 1592, the importance of the town rapidly decreased.

Giacomo Leopardi
Italian scholar, poet, and philosopher, one of the great writers of the 19th century. Leopardi was a contemporary of the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, with whom he shared a similar pessimistic view of life. Leopardi's love problems inspired some of his saddest lyrics.
.
"Meanwhile the time of my youth flies,
More precious than fame and laurels,
Dearer than glorious daylight or breath itself"
--Remembrances

His works have been, translated and admired by writers, scholars, and poets all over the world. One of his poems, 'The Infinite', has been translated into more than forty languages.

Senigallia
Senigallia was founded in the 4th century B.C. by the Gallic tribe of the Senones and was the first Roman colony on the Adriatic shore.
Nowadays it owes its charm to an unpolluted sea-water and soft velvety beach that extends over 10 km. The charm of the beach goes with that of the monuments and the works of art situated in a very old historical centre that is very close to it: something which is quite unusual but for only a very few seaside resorts of the Adriatic coast.
