“Microphone Array Measurements for Acoustic Source Mapping”,
by Prof. Gianmarco Battista
University of Parma
ABOUT THE LECTURER
He earned both his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree with full marks and honours in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona (Italy). He then earned a European PHD with honours in Industrial Engineering with a thesis on three-dimensional volumetric acoustic mapping for aeroacoustic applications.
After working as a Postdoctoral research assistant in the field of noise and vibration measurements based on array of sensors at Polytechnic University of Marche, and as an NVH Performance Engineer at Ferrari S.p.A., he is now Assistant Professor in Mechanical Measurements at University of Parma, Italy.
“Defocus Particle Tracking: Recent developments and applications“
by Prof. Massimiliano Rossi
Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna
ABSTRACT
Defocus Particle Tracking (DPT) refers to single-camera particle tracking velocimetry methods that measure the three-dimensional trajectory of tracer particles using the defocusing principle. These methods provide volumetric data using a single-camera view without needing a complex and expensive optical system. DPT methods have been particularly successful in microfluidics applications, where multi-camera approaches are normally not allowed, and the only optical access is through the microscope objective. This talk will introduce the main theoretical and practical aspects of DPT measurements and discuss the latest developments in processing methods, especially concerning the impact of new algorithms based on convolutional neural networks. Furthermore, some application examples will be provided, particularly showing measurement results in in-vitro red-blood-cell flows and micro-acoustofluidic devices.
“Non contact measurement of turbomachine blade vibration in working conditions by blade tip timing technique“
by Prof. G.L. Rossi, University of Perugia
ABOUT THE LECTURER
He is Full Professor of Measurement and Testing at the Department of Engineering, University of Perugia. He is the President of the non-profit association TUCEP – Tiber Umbria Comett Education Programme, European research centre and training provider. His main activities and responsibilities involve research group management, teaching in Mechanical Engineering, testing and measurement techniques, additive manufacturing – 3D printing VET, research contracts with industries, national and international research institutions. He is also referee, reviewer, evaluator for European publications and projects.
MANUFACTURER’S DEMO
“Vibration measurements by 1D scanning LDV and Polytec QTec® multi-detector technology“
Demonstration measurement on the use of a 1D scanning laser Doppler vibrometer equipped with QTec®, the technology patented by Polytec GmbH. The measurement is aimed at illustrating the performance and advantages of this LDV technology in addressing the “speckle noise” problem.
PRESENTATIONS
Presentations will be oral.
Presenting authors have 15 mins for their presentation, followed by 5 mins discussion.
Each session room will be supplied with an LCD projector and a PC with Power Point application.
Presenting authors can upload their presentations during the coffee break preceding their session or, for the opening morning sessions, before the beginning of the first presentation.
Authors who wish to do so can use their own computer hooked up to the projector.
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
A short biographical sketch about the professional background of the Presenting Author is required as an introduction by the session Chairman.
